AASECT Certified Sex Therapist
As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I help my clients find the language to communicate about sex and make it a satisfying part of their relationship. In therapy, I support people with getting in touch with their sexual selves, exploring and discovering what feels good, and confidently sharing that with their partners. We belong to a culture that promotes female sexual repression and, personally, as a woman of color, I’m committed to helping others break free from sexual inhibitions and embrace their sexual selves.
As a Couples Therapist, getting people to be more real, vulnerable, and connected in their relationships is my mantra. I help couples understand where their anger, depression, resentment comes from—that deep within all of us is the need to be loved, wanted, protected, admired, and cherished by our partner in a way that no one else has or can. I help couples heal and recognize that need in each other to create a relationship that comforts, supports, and nurtures them both.
As an Individual Relationship Therapist, I help my clients recognize their inner resources of wisdom, tenacity, and resilience and learn how to put them to use. I motivate them to take charge of their life and feel confident asking for what they want and need in their relationships.
My Style & Approach
I view therapy as a collaboration: I show up in sessions as an active participant, ready to get to work, gently leading you on the path to self-discovery. I appreciate the privilege that my clients bestow on me when they choose me to accompany them on their journey of healing. As we work together, I’ll draw from a variety of methods to help you create solutions that fit for your relationship, including Psycho-biological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method of Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Couples Therapy (CBCT), and Attachment Theory.
My approach is directive and solutions-oriented. My clients have shared that they still reference techniques we discussed to help them get through bumps in the road. Instead of wasting time talking about surface issues, I like to cut to the chase and get to the deeper, more important questions. I don’t find much value in sitting back and letting you vent endlessly. I fully understand my responsibility and role as someone who is expected to point out the difficult things & facilitate painful conversations.
I come from a multi-cultural and multi-lingual background, and have proudly designed Tri-Valley Relationship Therapy, Inc. to cater to the needs of the vibrant and diverse community that it serves. I offer counseling services in English, Punjabi & Hindi.
I am not a big fan of labels. I have been told by my clients that I am very warm and authentic, which makes it easier for them to open up to me because they feel comforted and safe. My favorite and most fulfilling part of the therapy process is watching my clients learn to love & trust again, reclaim their marriages, relationships and their space in this world.
