You and Your Partner Deserve a Satisfying Sex Life
It’s natural to want sexual connection—you don’t have to convince yourself to just accept things the way they are by rationalizing that there is more to your relationship than sex.
Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy and is considered a specialty in the field of psychotherapy. As a trained Sex Therapist, I help both individuals and couples struggling with:
Low sexual desire or desire differences in a couple
Not being able to orgasm
Problems with achieving and maintaining erection
Performance anxiety or lack of confidence
Premature or Delayed ejaculation, or not being able to control the timing of ejaculation
Experiencing pain during sex
Impact of infertility, aging or chronic illness on sex
Tri-Valley Relationship Therapy, Inc. in the East Bay is a sex positive and kink/poly friendly practice. As a Sex Therapist who values and mindfully practices sex positivity and cultural competency, I also specialize in supporting:
Individuals wanting to explore their sexual orientation or gender identity. (Learn more about therapy for LGBTQQI couples and individuals HERE.)
Individuals and couples who are exploring or coming out as non-monogamous or polyamorous
People interested in exploring kink or fetishes
If you crave sexual connection with your partner but are impacted by any of the challenges above, it can feel risky to seek help for such an intimate issue. Seeing a trained sex therapist may help calm your nerves. My clients have shared that working with a sex therapist has helped them reach a level of connection and understanding of each other deeper than they’d ever felt before.
AASECT certified sex therapists have specialized training in treating sexual issues, as opposed to a regular therapist who may only have the minimal amount of training in sexuality needed for their professional license. Professionally-trained and certified sex therapists possess advanced knowledge of the anatomical & physiological responses of the sexual response cycle, are skilled at providing psychotherapy and have expertise in relationship/couples counseling.
Consumer Note: Legally therapists in California can call themselves "Sex Therapists" or say they provide "Sex Therapy" without any specialized training or knowledge of sexuality because there is no license for Sex Therapy in our state. Only with AASECT Certified Sex Therapists can you be assured that your need for expertise working with sexuality will be met. If you’ve felt dissatisfied with your sex life for a long time, chances are that you have tried different things to fix the issue. Maybe you’ve read every book that has been published on how to make sex fun again and subscribed to every blog that promised to jump start your sex life. Maybe you tried to put sex on the schedule, or experimented with toys, different positions, lingerie & weekend getaways. It’s clear how much you value your relationship and your connection with your partner.
Sessions are done in person at my office in Dublin, CA or via phone/video conference. However, in some cases, phone/video sessions are not suitable or recommended. For certain issues, in person counseling is required and this determination is made on a case by case basis.
Please take advantage of a free phone consultation to see if sex therapy could help you. During the consultation, I can answer any questions you have about the process and we’ll begin to get to know each other.
